You can start walking straight from the doorstep of Cot Cottage. We would recommend exploring the woodland behind the property and completing the circular walk. Head towards the gate at the back of the property, through the dense woodland you will meet a single track road. You can complete the 2-3 hour circular walk from here which will bring you back to the property.
Kippford village is located on the Solway Coast. The unusually narrow village lies on the shore of the estuary of River Urr. Take a stroll on the charming Jubilee footpath to the pretty village of Rockcliffe.
For deliciously good fun head to Cream o’ Galloway, located just 15 minutes’ drive from Cot Cottage. Let the kids explore the woodland adventure playground before touring the dairy for ice cream tasting!
As we’re located in unspoilt countryside it is a little too far to walk to the nearest restaurants and pubs. However, just 5 minutes’ drive from Cot Cottage you will find The Old Schoolhouse, a fantastic café serving everything from brunch
to high tea.
The Selkirk Arms in Kirkudbright has a fantastic bar and bistro serving local hand pulled ales. Move through to their restaurant for a friendly but unobtrusive service.
The Machers area has four colour coded cycling routes ranging from 17-25 miles. These four routes are on quiet roads, allowing you to experience the local moorland and wildlife whilst taking in a little heritage.
Are you a keen mountain biker or wishing to have a go at the sport? Then we would recommend a visit to one of the 7stanes mountain bike centres! Whether you have plenty of experience or you’re a complete beginner, there are trails for all abilities.
